Pottery has been fired in Tokoname, Aichi, Japan, since the 12th century. The area is renowned for its diverse ceramic products, with the Tokoname kyusu teapot being perhaps the most iconic. Crafted from unglazed Tokoname clay, these teapots come in two distinctive varieties: shudei red clay (like this flat kyusu), known for its smooth, warm-toned surface, and kurodei black clay, prized for its deep, rich finish. Both types are valued for their fine, irregular texture, which is said to enhance the flavor of the tea. Similar to tea ware made in Yixing, this 300 ml Tokoname kyusu features a fine ceramic tea leaf filter and a tightly fitted lid for optimal control when pouring.

Rinse and dry well after use. Do not use hard objects to clean the inside of the pot for the filter could break.
