Mini oroshigane grater made of tinned copper

This handmade mini oroshigane grater can be used at the table or for preparing ginger drinks.

Unlike modern 'plane' style graters, the oroshigane does not cleanly cut the material, but scratches the product to produce more surface area and therefore aroma. It is able to create different textures depending on the pressure applied and the time spent grating.

Traditionally used for grating foods like wasabi and ginger, it also works magically on citrus fruits and garlic.
